Health awareness workshop on Diabetes held

A health awareness workshop on 'Diabetes Myths and Facts' was conducted at the auditorium of Spicer Adventist University, Aundh Road, Pune in Maharashtra on Sunday.
The workshop was conceived, designed and executed by Leichal Taret Foundation, Pune and organised by Association of Manipuri Diasporh (AMAND) Pune in association with Spicer Adventist University; Pung.
Around 100 beneficiaries registered for the workshop were given free basic diabetes parameter screening including, BMI, random BSL, BP and HbAlc at the beginning of the workshop.
Certified national diabetes educator Subhashini Naorem shared her experience of working with underprivileged children with type 1 diabetes and the common myths and facts about diabetes while obstetrics and gynaecologist Dr Jyotsna Angom elaborated on various aspects of health issues related to gestational diabetes during pregnancy part from , highlighting the alarming cases among young mothers in their 30s.Qualified fitness trainer Sangeeta Sinroja presented a demonstration on some of the best practiced fitness exercises that are beneficial for controlling and preventing diabetes.
Speaking on the occasion, registrar of SAU Pune Dr Yesu Simon appreciated AMAND and Leichal Taret Foundation for conducting the workshop and made special mention of AMAND for bringing the benefits of health awareness in the campus of SAU every year.
The registrar also pledged to extend support, to such workshops in the future as well.
Meanwhile, legal advisor of Lechat Taret Foundation advocate Geetarani Takhellabam shared a brief account about the foundation stating that M/s AG Diagnostic, Pune and the Foundation have entered into a contract under which all the attendees of the workshop and other underprivileged persons can avail discounted laboratory tests related to diabetes and other health check-up tests.
