Books 'Yangna Paikhredako Punshi', 'Paokhum' released

Imphal, June 19 2022:
In connection with the 100th birth anniversary of (L) Moirangthem Gojen-dro Singh, a book penned by the deceased author, titled 'Yangna Paikhredako Punshi' was released during a function held at Sangai Hall of Imphal Hotel here on Sunday.
The book release function was organised by Moirangthem family and attended by veteran politician Okram Joy and ex-MP T Meinya.
Speaking on the occasion, Gojendro's son Lakshmikumar recounted that despite being bedridden, his father recorded his story and various experiences, including the political, economy and social scene of the state before and after independence, in a diary.
The said diary was published with the aim of informing the future generations, he added.
Meanwhile, 'Paokhum', a novel penned by renowned writer and Sahitya Akademi Awardee Kshetri Bira, has been released at five different places including Kakching, Lakhipur, Agartala, Guwahati and New Delhi on Sunday.
The release function held at Library and Information Centre, Kakching auditorium was organised jointly by Sahitya Seva Samiti Kakching and Angom Ningthou Preservation and Documentation Centre, Uripok Achom Leikai, while Naharol Khorirol Sillup, Assam organised the function at Lakhipur, Assam; Manipuri Sahitya Parishad Tripura at South Dhaleshwar in Agartala; Patriotic Writers' Association, Guwahati at Manipur Basti High School, Guwahati and Delhi Kakching Society at MCD Civic Centre, New Delhi.
The author has so far penned seven books and won 11 awards including Sahitya Akademi Award, Manipur State Award for Literature and State Kala Akademi Award.
