T Khullen, Haijang village renew bond through get-together programme

A get-together programme of Tumuyon Khullen and Haijang village under Kangpokpi district was held at Tumuyon Khullen Village Authority hall on Tuesday.
The two villages belonging to two different tribal communities removed all ethnic barriers to renew their old tradition of bonding and peaceful co-existence in a simple programme attended by all Village Authority members, youth leaders, women leaders, Church leaders, senior citizens and public leaders of both the villages.
On the occasion, TA Mareiba, Chief of Tumuyon Khullen Village encouraged the youths of both the village to maintain the bond of love that the elders have built and kept alive from the time of their forefathers.
The elders of both the villages also exchanged different stories of how the relationship of these two different villages from different communities originated.
Thangkhopao Chongloi, chief of Haijang village said that elder Helkhotong who was from Sombem was the first person to settle in the land which was donated by the Tumuyon Khullen village.
Every speaker from Haijang village stated that they considered Tumuyon Khullen village as their parents and that their relationship should prosper and' continue the spirit of brotherhood.
Both villages wished and hoped that their appeal would be accepted by the landowners.
The Haijang villages also requested the people of Tumuyon Khullen to donate some more land as the people of Haijang are facing acute shortage of settlement area due to the increasing population of the village.
Rev KA Jacob, pastor of Tumuyon Khullen Baptist Church assured the congregation that he will arrange a pulpit exchange programme between the two churches and promote the unity and bond of love between the two villages through gospel ministry as well.
