NYK Chandel organises Yoga Mahotsav

Imphal, May 14 2022: Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Chandel and Japhou Youth Club jointly organised Yoga Mahotsav as countdown programme to International Yoga Day cum sports material & certificate distribution on Saturday as part of Youth Club Development Campaign at Japhou Youth Club Hall, Chandel.

The district youth convention was attended by Michael Thangminlien Mate, district youth officer (DYO), Shong sir Nicodim, headmaster of Japhou UPHS, Ng Rameson Monsang, former DYO NYK Chandel, Somie Wanglar, president Japhou Youth Club as presidium members.

The presidium members spoke on the history of International Day of Yoga, the birth of Yoga and its export to the west as well as the physical and mental benefits of Yoga especially in light of prevention of the lifestyle diseases like diabetes, heart disease, cancer, ptc., common in the modern civilization.

DYO NYK Chandel, Michael Mate also highlighted the programmes and schemes under Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) and Department of Youth Affairs.

The district level outstanding youth club award certificate for 2021-22 of NYK Chandel was given to Japhou Youth Club along with a cash reward of Rs 25,000.Sports materials and NYKS affiliated certificates were handed out to 30 youth club presidents and secretaries from different villages of Chandel and Tengnoupal by the presidium members.

In the afternoon session, another Yoga Mahotsav cum personal contact programme on Atma Nirbhar Bharat as part of the youth club development campaign was jointly organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Thoubal and Kshetileikai Rising Club (KRC) at the local community hall.

The programme was attended by Puyam Jiteshor Singh, ex-councillor Ward No 3 Kshetrileikai, as chief guest, Michael T Mate, DYO NYK Thoubal, as president, Maibam Samananda Meitei, ex-ward member (Ward No 3 Kshetrileikai), Thokchom Shyamachandra Singh, ex-ward member (Ward No 3 Kshetrileikai) and Konsam Lokendra Singh, DACYP member NYK Thoubal, as guests of honour.

The benefits of Yoga awareness and Yoga Asanas demonstration was presented by Thokchom Sontila Devi, youth leader, and Khungdongbam Sophiya Devi, president Ningol Club, Heirok.

The district level outstanding youth club award certificate for 2021-22 of NYK Thoub was handed to Kshetrileikai Rising Club along with a cash reward of Rs 25,000.Sports materials and NYKS affiliated certificates were handed out to 40 youth club presidents and secretaries from different villages of Thoubal and Kakching by the presidium members, said a press release of the DYO, NYK Thoubal.
