One hurt in bomb blast

Imphal, May 14 2022:
At least one person was injured in a bomb explosion that took place at Durga Mandir, Telepati under Porompat police station, Imphal East last night at around 8.40 .
Two four-wheeler vehicles and wooden doors of some houses were also damaged by the impact of the blast.
It is reported that the bomb suspected to be IED went off a few meters away from the main entrance gate on the northern side of the Durga Temple.
The injured victim has been identified as Subham Prasad (24) s/o Nandalal Prasad and he has been admitted to JNIMS Hospital.
Soon after the incident, a large number of irate locals came out and protested near the site of the explosion.
A team of Imphal East police led by SP M Pradip rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control and later cordoned off the area for investigation.
Wangkhei AC MLA Thangjam Arunkumar, former Minister Okram Henry and ex-MLA Yumkham Erabot also arrived at the site and took stock of the situation.
Speaking to media persons, Arunkumar condemned the attack and urged the perpetrators not to repeat such acts of violence in future.
Later, ADGP (Law and Order) Clay Khongsai and IG Zone I Themthing Ngasanva checked the footage of CCTVs installed in the surrounding areas of the Durga Temple while a team of Forensic Science Laboratory conducted an inquest of the blast site.
A bomb disposal squad also arrived at the spot and checked the area using metal detectors.
A case has been registered and investigation is on.
No groups have claimed responsibility for the explosion till the time of filing this report.
