Imphal, April 07 2022:
'E-Lailik', an app through which different types of books particularly stories, novels and poetry could be accessed, has been launched on Thursday.
A launch programme organised by E-lailik team at Adimjati Shiksha Ashram was attended by Sahitya Akademi awardees Yumlembam Ibomcha as chief guest, Saratchand Thiyam as president and cultural activist Narendra Ningomba as guest of honour.
Speaking at the launch programme, Ibomcha noted that launch of such an App will play a huge role in producing writers.
Manipuris residing in different areas of the world could avail the opportunity of reading Manipuri stories, novels and poetry, he continued, while wishing success for the newly launched-App.
It is difficult to say with certainty whether people in Manipur have reading habit or not.
But it is a fact that books are not bought by people.
Only some popular books were bought, he pointed out, while adding that the App will give an opportunity to the readers to read books penned by young people.
He also described as unfortunate that young writers yearn for awards after completing a book and further urged not to write books for awards.
Books should be written sincerely and after critically thinking and discussing the subject matter.
There is no proof that award winning books are all good.
Many good books in the world also did not receive any award, Ibomcha reasoned.
E-Lailik owner Ch Bhaskar said that they have been working for developing the App since the last two years.
Many writers and young authors in particular faced several inconveniences in publishing their works or could not be sold if published.
As such, the App has been developed to mitigate this difficulty of the authors, he added.
