LPG price hike akin to abusing women community: Nupi Marup

Decrying sharp increase in the price of LPG by about Rs 50 by the government on May 8, All Manipur Nupi Marup has categor ically stated that such act of random hiking of price of the essential commodity is akin to abusing the whole women community who are maintaining families.
In a release, Nupi Marup secretary L Sumatibala said that hiking the price of petrol, diesel and LPG from March 22 has subsequently affected the price of essential commodities and fare of transport services thereby adding to burden of the people and students.
As such, opposition parties have been demanding for reducing excise duty on petroleum products, she pointed out.
She observed that increasing price of petrol, diesel and LPG will surely increase domestic violence in economically poor households in towns and villages.
There is high chance of increasing number of TB patients and global warming as people would now opt for firewood for cooking as they could not afford cooking gas.
While urging the central government to reduce the price of LPG, Sumatibala exhorted the state government to reduce the different taxes imposed on petroleum products.
