Training on water conservation imparted

Ukhrul, May 11 2022:
As part of Jal Shakti Abhiyan, Krishi Vigyan Kendra Ukhrul, Indian Council for Agricultural Research, Manipur Centre organised a one day training programme on water Conservation under the theme, "Catch the Rain" at Winotang, Ukhrul, today.
It was attended by District Agriculture Officer (DAO) Ukhrul, Varechon Raingam as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Varechon stressed on the need to conserve water to resolve the issue of water scarcity in the district.
"Even with a high percentage of rainfall during the monsoon season in Ukhrul, the people face the issue of water shortage in the winter season", he added.
He also urged the public to take part in the movement to conserve and use water judiciously.
Dr Solei Luiram, Head of KVK, Ukhrul elaborated on the scientific and technical methods of water conservation.
He mentioned that rain water can be stored/conserved for domestic usage and agricultural purposes during lean season to enable farming throughout the year and generate sustainable income for the farmers.
