Imphal, May 11 2022:
Refuting the claim of service providers collecting the benefits transferred into the bank accounts of 18,000 organic farmers registered under 60 Farmer Producers' Companies (FPCs), which is being spread on social media, one such service provider identified S Lenboi has said that there seems to be some misunderstanding among some farmers.
Addressing a press meet at Manipur Press Club here on Wednesday, Lenboi said that the horticulture department transferred an amount of Rs 11,250 each into the bank accounts of the registered organic farmers recently.
Out of this amount, a sum of Rs 3000 each should be contributed by the farmers and the same should be deposited in the bank account of the respective FPCs.
The fund is meant for utilisation in getting further loan, subsidies, grant'and to set up processing units, collection centres and to improve farm infrastructure without any involvement of the department or service providers.
One can easily verify the policy by getting the account statements of their respective FPCs, he said while urging all concerned to refrain from spreading such misinformation without having proper understanding of the policy.
