The Court of CJM, Imphal West has directed the Central Bureau of In vestigation (CBI) to submit a status report of the ongoing investigation into Babysana's death case by May 30 .
During the hearing of the case on Wednesday, the Court noted that CBI/SSB Kolkata Addl SP had submitted a final form report regarding the case under Section 173 of IPC on March 31, 2021 .

On April 28 of the same year, Baby Sana's father filed an application objecting to the final form report submitted by the IO and appealed to the Court to direct the IO to reinvestigate the case.
The application further urged for establishing the identity of the person whose blood (AB blood group) was found on the left palm of the deceased through DNA profiling and punish them in accordance to the law of the land.
It also made a prayer to ascertain whether the boarding school operated by Ph Landhoni was registered under Manipur Shop and Commercial Establishment Act, 1972 .
The Court accepted the application and on November 16, 2021, observed that the investigation carried out by the IO in the case was unsatisfactory.
As such, it rejected the final form report and directed the IO to continue investigating the case.
Based on aforementioned order, the Court stated that the investigation must have made significant progress as the 5-month period given to the IO is now over.
