KYKL celebrates 18th raising day of MYL
Source: The Sangai Express

Imphal, February 16 2022: The proscribed Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) has celebrated the 18th raising day of its armed wing Meeyamgi Yawol Lanmee (MYL) throughout Kangleipak and beyond, including GHQ-1st Bn, CHQ, 2nd Bn, 3rd Bn, units and sections, today.

A press release issued by KYKL secretary, publicity and research A Yaiphaba stated that February 16 is an important day to the outfit as the valiant fighters of MYL, following its establishment, launched an attack on a patrol party of the 10 Assam Rifles and killed five of its personnel on this particular day in 2005 .

To commemorate this first significant attack against the Indian security forces by MYL, the central committee of KYKL declared February 16 as "Lanmee gi Numit (Army Day)", it said.

The main function was held at its CHQ under the chairmanship of N Oken, supreme commander of MYL, KYKL, the statement said and added that many prominent and important members of the armed wing as well as the central committee of the outfit attended the observation.

Saying that function began with the hoisting of the party flag by the supreme commander, the KYKL maintained that the supreme commander also spoke categorically about the challenges they face in taking forward the National liberation movement.

N Oken also stated that the revolutionary movement they have launched is related to the question of 'our continued existence as a people' which can never be abandoned.

The supreme commander said, "Our society today is riddled with many unnatural phenomena and it is crumbling in every sphere: economy, politics, social structure, even moral behaviours." There are significant questions to be answered regarding why societies crumble and the way out of it, he said and continued that giving a definitive answer to the question is the epochal task of revolutionary leaders and youth.

"If we dig a little deeper, we can find that our society has been caught in the trap of Indian colonial economy, politics, and culture," the supreme commander claimed and alleged that the Indian colonial economy has devastated Kanglei's economic backbone and all productive forces.

"We have come to believe that we couldn't exist without the Indians.

As a result of the Indian Hindunization process, our social and cultural identities have been gradually diluted," N Oken alleged.

Claiming that India is using both repressive and ideological State apparatuses to wipe out the indigenous people, the supreme commander alleged that Kangleipak will become extinct if it stays under India further.

He also claimed that the principal objective of India is to uproot indigenous people from their lands and replace them with Hindus from the mainland.

"It is self-evident that if we continue to be a part of India under its colonial rule, we will cease to exist as a people," Oken alleged and claimed that the freedom struggle they have been waging against India is correct.

"Clearly, this is the only way to ensure that we can protect our Nation and the people," he claimed.

He also appealed to all revolutionary organizations and cadres to take an oath 'to transform ourselves into true revolutionary armies,' equipped with revolutionary principles and consciousness, capable of confronting and overcoming the current challenges.
