Minister Nemcha distributes PMGKAY rice

Kangpokpi, April 15 2022:
As part of Samajik Nyay Pakhwada' being organised BJP to mark its 42nd foundation day, cooperation minister Nemcha Kipgen distributed free rice under Prime Minister Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) in Kangpokpi AC on Friday.
The minister distributed 5 kg of rice each to all the beneficiaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Nemcha pointed out that implementation of PMGKAY demonstrates that the government has firm resolve to address grievances of the people in their times of trouble.
She further said that the Prime Minister had showed his concern for the poor and commitment to the welfare of the weaker section of society by ensuring that no household is deprived of food grain during the Covid-19 pandemic for over two years.
PM Modi's emphasis on PMGKAY has helped in tackling poverty and inequality and reduced extreme poverty.
Welfare of the poor has been the Modi government s top priority and it remains committed to this cause, the minister added.
Considered as the world's 'largest food security programme' PMGKAY was launched by the centre in April 2020 during the first wave of COVlD-19 pandemic.
In the double-engine government, Nemcha said, the state government under the leadership of chief minister N Biren supplemented and improved the scheme of the central government and increased their power.
It is under the double-engine government that every poor household is getting double the normal quantity of rations as each beneficiary will get an additional 5 kg free ration per month in addition to the normal quota of food grains under the NFSA, the minister informed.
