In a first of its kind, elected MLAs from the three Assembly Constituencies of Kangpokpi district were felicitated on Thursday during a reception ceremony held at District Headquarters, Kangpokpi.
The reception ceremony was organized by Sadar Hills Chiefs' Association (SAHILCA) on behalf of the people of Sadar Hills to felicitate and seek God's blessing upon the three MLAs at the Multipurpose Hall of Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council in Kangpokpi.
The MLAs included BJP's Nemcha Kipgen (50-Kangpokpi AC), who is also the Minister of Textiles, Commerce and Industry, and Cooperation; Kuki People's Alliance's MLA Kimneo Haokip Hangshing (46-Saikul AC), and an Independent MLA Haokholet Kipgen (51-Saikul AC) .

During the programme, SAHILCA as per the Kuki custom and tradition, killed a "Mithun" to seek God's blessing for the MLAs representing the people of Sadar Hills in the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
SAHILCA speaker, Lunthang Haokip, chief of L Khomunnom conducted the ceremony while Haokholen Kipgen, president of SAHILCA, who is also the chief of Lhangkichoi village delivered the welcome address.
SAHILCA advisor, Tongmang Haokip, who is also the president of Kuki People's Alliance stated that in the past, MLAs from Kangpokpi district hardly meet one another but this time they should not maintain such 'social distancing' .
"Rather, you should collectively work cutting across party lines for the welfare of the district and the people", he asserted.
Haokholal Hangshing, chief of Laikot village and advisor of SAHILCA stressed on the need for the people of Kangpokpi district to stand united.
The chiefs of Sadar Hills, along with the leaders of various CSOs present at the event unanimously adopted, "Go together, work together" to be the slogan for Sadar Hills and urged the 3 elected MLAs from the district to follow the slogan.
Rev L Kipgen, executive secretary Thadou Baptist Association India, who attended the ceremony as the Blessing Minister highlighted the vast responsibilities of the three elected MLAs and stated that their roles and responsibilities as the representatives of the people are much more higher than the unceasing felicitations, presentations, and the garlands on their necks.
Quoting the saying, "Women moves, country moves", Rev L Kipgen also motivated the two dynamic women MLAs from the district in discharging duties, roles, and responsibilities for the welfare of the district and the people.
He then invoked a blessing prayer for the MLAs which was supported by the gathering by standing.
"It was like a dream come true as I have been always thinking of sitting together with leaders of my district and putting our heads together towards inclusive growth and development within the district and the state at large", said Nemcha Kipgen.
The Minister also conveyed her hope that the aspiration of the people for the welfare of the district will be materialized within 5 years and thanked SAHILCA for the reception ceremony while pledging to go together and work together with the other MLAs and the people.
Haokholet Kipgen and Kimneo Haokip Hangshing also pledged to go and work together for the welfare of the district.
Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi, Thadou Inpi Kangpokpi, Kuki Women Union, Thadou Women Association, Kuki Students' Organization, Thadou Students' Association, Thadou Youth Association, and various other CSOs including various tribe and community leaders also took part in the event.
