DESAM welcomes speedy measures for appointment of regular Principals

Imphal, April 15 2022:
Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has welcomed the speedy measures taken up by the State Government for the appointment of regular principals which have been lying vacant and for initiating the process to appoint a qualified Director of SCERT.
DESAM in a press release said that the above measures have been taken up by the State Government in response to the ultimatum set by DESAM to ramp up measures for the same within 100 hours.
The student body further maintained that it will keep a strict vigil over the measures which are being taken and will extend support whenever needed.
But if the Government takes up any step violating its promises, DESAM has warned of democratic protest along with the support of the student community in the State.
Emphasizing on the demands raised by DESAM to the State Government, the authorities concerned were also urged to take up appropriate measures in the colleges of the State for the effective implementation of Four Years Undergraduate Programme which will be started from this academic session onwards and the same ordinance was passed by the Manipur University on October 26, 2021 .
The student body further urged the Government for wide scale rationalization of college teachers in the State and to properly maintain the teacher-student-subject ratio.
In regards to starting educational courses in Manipuri language, DESAM also appealed to the authorities concerned to take up necessary steps and also sought attention to formulate penalty laws against the use of unfair means in examinations.
Lastly, DESAM expressed firm belief that the incumbent Government will take up all the required steps for the development of the Education sector in the State and called for concerted efforts from all to achieve the cause.
