MLAs advised to work for welfare of denizens

In the first of its kind, the three elected MLAs from the three assembly constituencies of Kangpokpi district were felicitated during a reception ceremony held at the Multipurpose Hall of Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council, Kangpokpi, on Thursday.
The reception ceremony was organised by Sadar Hills Chiefs' Association (SAHILCA) on behalf of the people of Sadar Hills to seek God's blessing for the three MLAs.
The three MLAs from the district are Nemcha Kipgen, who got elected from Kangpokpi AC; Kuki People's Alliance MLA Kimneo Haokip Hangshing from Saikul AC, and Independent MLA Haokholet Kipgen of Saikul AC.
Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi, Thadou Inpi Kangpokpi, Kuki Women's Union, Thadou Women's Association, Kuki Students' Organization, Thadou Students' Association, Thadou Youth's Association, and various other civil society organisations and various tribe and community leaders from across the district attended the event.
SAHILCA speaker, Lun-thang Haokip, chief of L Khomunnom, conducted the ceremony while Haokholen Kipgen, president of SAHILCA, who is also the chief of Lhangkichoi village, delivered the welcome address.
SAHILCA advisor, Tong-mang Haokip, who is also the president of Kuki People's Alliance, in his keynote address, recalled that in the previous few terms, MLAs from Kangpokpi district hardly met one another but this time "you should not maintain such social distancing between you and the people.
"Rather, you should collectively work cutting across party lines for the welfare of the district and the people', he added.
Another advisor of SAHILCA, Haokholal Hangshing said, "Kangpokpi district is in a survival stage, if we are divided we will fall, so, it has become very imperative for all of us to stand united" .
The chiefs of Sadar Hills, along with various apex bodies and CSO leaders unanimously adopted, "Go together, work together" to be the slogan for Sadar Hills and urged the three elected MLAs to follow the people's slogan.
The blessing minister of the event, Rev L Kipgen, exhorted that the slogan, "Go together, work together" had immense contribution to India's movement towards freedom and urged the three people's representatives to go in line with the slogan for development and wellbeing of the district.
"It was like a dream come true as I have always been thinking of sitting together with leaders of my district and putting our heads together towards ensuring inclusive growth and development within the district and the state at large,'' said minister Nemcha Kipgen.
The Textiles, Commerce & Industry and Cooperation minister also thanked Sadar Hills Chiefs' Association for the reception ceremony and pledged to work together with the elected MLAs and the people.
MLAs Haokholet Kipgen and Kimneo Haokip Hangshing also pledged to work together for the wel fare of the district.
