MOMA continues export of organic Chak-hao

Continuing the export of organic Chak-hao, Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA) under Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Region (MOVCDNER) sent another consignment of 1MT of organic Chak-hao (black rice) to different European countries on Saturday.
Interacting with the media while preparing to send off the consignment in front of the agency's organic outlet near Sanjenthong, here on Saturday afternoon, MOMA project director Devdutta Sharma said that Chak-hao has not only got GI tag but it has also become a certified organic product of the state.
With this achievement, entrepreneurs of the state have a major role to play to promote the product and improve the socio-economic condition of the state farmers.
Earlier on August 12, chief minister N Biren flagged off the first consignment of certified organic Chakhao in value chain mode to European countries.
Saturday's consignment has been sent under the initiative of MERAMAC.
MOMA is ready to provide financial and logistic support to entrepreneurs of the state, who are interested in taking up the export business not only of Chak-hao but also of other agriculture and horticulture products, he said.
MERAMAC officer in-charge Mangsatabam Imo said that the agency has been sending organic Chak-hao collected through Chakhao Poireiton Organic Farmers' Producers Company.
They sent two MT of organic Chak-hao on November 4 and the consignment air-lifted on Saturday was in continuation of the earlier export to European countries.
Besides, there are demands from different states of the country including Punjab.
Many are also expressing interest of placing bulk order as paddy, he added.
