Political awareness camp held at Longpi Kachui

Dr Khashim Ruivah, former Minister and BJP intending candidate of 45-Chingai (ST) Assembly Constituency on Saturday organised a one day political awareness programme of Bharatiya Janata Party at Longpi Kachui in Ukhrul district.
The meeting was attended by a host of party leaders from the State Unit and 45-Chingai Mandal along with representatives from different village units of BJP, said a release.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Khashim Ruivah stated that the BJP has a strong commitment to bring change and development in the country while adding that the party is making all efforts to reduce poverty and establish an egalitarian society, where every citizen has equal rights and opportunities in all aspects of life.
"The BJP in all its conviction looks to uphold democracy and people-centric Government", Dr Ruivah asserted.
To allay the misconception and unfounded propaganda about the saffron party, he also said that every faith has a place in the party's ethos and to ensure secularism in the country has always been the top agenda of BJP.
Dr Ruivah also highlighted that the National Institute of Bio-Resources and Sustainable Development was brought to Manipur during his tenure as Minister for Higher and Technical Education, Manipur.
However, this important institute has been neglected over the years by successive Governments.
He stated that he has been apprising the State Government to pay serious attention to this aspect, and put the institute to a better use.
During his stint as MLA of 45-Chingai assembly constituency, he added that the Tangkhul language was given recognition in the Assembly and for inclusion in the syllabus of higher secondary education.
The programme was moderated by Norbert Khayi with a welcome address delivered by RK Thotmathing.
The attending representatives from various village units comprised of Maichon, Tora, Teinem, Sirarakhong, Phalee, Somdal, Hoomi, Kachai, Ringui, Phungcham, Paorei, New Tusom, Chingjaroi, Kalhang, kuirei, Marem, Namrei, Nungbi Hirei and Leisan.
As part of the programme, Dr Ruivah, a two-time MLA of 45-Chingai AC also visited Nungbi Khullen and held interactions with party workers, well wishers and village leaders.
