Imphal, November 29 2021:
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president N Loken has slammed the BJP government both at the Centre and in the state as a failed entities that praise itself for bringing good governance while the ground reality is far from good governance.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself had apologised for bringing the three farm laws after the farmers defeated the Modi government.
Attending a political conference of Congress party held at Nambol Awang on Sunday, MLA Loken said that the state government is making selfclaim of bringing good governance but the public do not agree with the government's claim.
However, they cannot raise their voice as they would get tangled in police case if they speak against the government.
The government was formed based on lies and suppressive power.
As a result, it is organising government programmes like Go to Hills and Go to Village by hoisting BJP flags.
This shows that these progammes are nothing but election campaign for BJP and not for public welfare, he said.
Recently, the government announced enrolment of 10,000 new beneficiaries under widow pension scheme but the same government has not been able to release pending pension fund to the existing beneficiaries, he said and asked the government if the fund for the new pension scheme was included in any of the budget head of the state government.
The Congress MLA also accused the government of lying to the public and added that the public will give the right answer for their lies.
Regarding development in Nambol assembly constitu-ency, Loken said that there are still several areas where the constituency needs more attention and he accepts these shortfalls.
Only two families are in active politics in the constituency.
The Thounaojam family have won six terms while Nameirakpam family have won five terms.
The elected representatives from Thounaojam family did nothing for the development of Nambol AC.
All the development projects taken up in Nambol AC were taken up by the elected representatives from Nameirakpam family, he said while adding that Thounaojam family has no right to raise fingers on the works taken up by him.
Loken said that fund for construction of new market building of Nambol Keithel and water supply scheme have been sanctioned.
For water supply scheme, digging of ponds in different localities has been completed and construction works of overhead tanks and other infrastructure are yet to begin.
Once these infrastructure have been completed, people of the constituency will get water connection, he said.
BJP will win only 15 or 16 seats in the 2022 state assembly elections.
In the last election, 25 out of 54 sitting MLAs of Congress won election while three out of six new faces were also elected.
However, in 2022, only 12 out of the 23 BJP MLAs will retain their seats and no new faces will win.
This is the reason behind the aggressive activities of BJP to rope in members and intending candidates of Congress party, he said.
BJP national president and BJP union ministers are visiting the state as they know the party's downfall in the state, he said.
