Imphal Literature Festival concludes

The 9th Imphal Literature Festival organised by Sahitya Thoupang Lup (SATHOULUP) culminated at Ningomthong Kitna Panung on Sunday.
The valedictory function was attended by SATHOULUP president Tongbram Amarjit, Festival Committee chairman Saratchandra Thiyam and ex-ZP member Athokpam Dhanapati as presidium members.
The festival, which began from November 25, had the participation of Maharashtrian authors Prafull Shiledar and Manoj Rupadar, along with Chhattisgarh author Kailash Banwasi and jour nalist cum filmmaker Rajkumar Soni.
In his speech, Prafull Shiledar; who is a renowned Marathi poet, said that his stay in Manipur was wonderful and he will never forget the experience.
He also said that he would be collecting Manipuri poems to translate and publish them in Marathi.
Speaking at the event, Kailash Banwasi informed that he would be carrying out a careful documentation of his experiences during the festival.
The second day of the festival, which was organised at Mandha Island Resort in Loktak lake on November 26, consisted of variety of programmes including Pena, Khunung Eshei, and poetry session, under the sponsorship of Information and Public Relations director Heisnam Balkrishna, who also presided over the session.
During the 5-day long festivals, tours to Kangla fort, Nupi Keithel, Khuman Lampak Stadium complex, RKCS Art gallery, Mary Kom Boxing Academy and others were also carried out.
The authors who attended the festival also met renowned theatre director Ratan Thiyam and held discussions, they also interacted with Manipur State Film Development Society secretary Sanzu Bachaspatimayum and talked about the Manipuri film industry.
The authors were also invited to a performance of Festival of Manipuri Dance and Music at Maibam Lotpa Ching.
The group of authors then met another renowned theatre director Thaninleima at her complex in Khenjon-glang and filmmaker Haobam Paban Kumar.
As part of the closing function, mementos and simple gifts were presented to the participating authors from outside the state.
Various cultural performances were also presented on the occasion.
