Imphal, November 29 2021:
The Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) on Monday detained 195 non-locals who don't possess ILP or any valid passes to stay in Manipur during its drive at Mantripukhri.
The drive was carried out with the help of Mantripukhri Youth Development Committee and Mantripukhri Khunou Leikai Development Committee, said JCILPS in a statement.
Saying that about 220 non-locals staying at Mantripukhri were verified during the drive, the JCILPS said most of them didn't possess ILP passes while many others held invalid/expired permits.
The detainees were handed over to Heingang police.
This detention in huge numbers testifies that Mantripukhri has largely been occupied by non-locals and the place doesn't look like Manipur, it claimed and urged the State Government to do the needful to save the State from being overwhelmed by outsiders.
It opined that the non-Manipuris would surely leave the State if a healthy work culture is groomed among the local people.
The JCILPS had also pulled up 85 non-locals from Uripok and Wahengbam Leikai in the last two days too.
