State Level Boxing: Bishnupur top medal tally with 17 gold medals, set sight on team champions title

Imphal, November 29 2021:
Bishnupur district unit are eyeing the team champions title of the ongoing State Level Boxing Championship as they were able to collect as many as 17 gold medals, 6 silver medals and 13 bronze medals so far in the championship.
Imphal East unit are following Bishnupur closely with a total of 14 gold medals, 2 silver and 15 bronze medals in this championship organised by the Manipur Amateur Boxing Association at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.

Bishnupur district unit were able to add 7 gold medals today in their tally as Luxmi Nongthombam downed Akoijam Archana Chanu of Thoubal in the sub-junior girls 49 kg competition; Pukhrambam Bicky beat Kakching's Samom Punshiba for the sub-junior boys (2009) 49 kg title; Supriya Thokchom beat Ningthoujam Manda of Thoubal for the junior girls 54 kg title; Soinam Jenish beat Yengkhom Bikram of Kakching in the sub-junior boys 58 kg final; Thingom Rishi beat Chingakham Roshan of Imphal East for the sub-junior boys 37 kg (2007-08) title; Amar Raj Wahengba beat Salam Nepolean of Imphal East for the sub-junior boys 40 kg title and Maibam Rosemary downed Churachandpur's Niang Ngaidim in the youth women's 52 kg final.
Imphal East district also amassed 7 gold medal today with Tonambam Chingkheinganba opening up the day's account beating Jasobanta Yengkhom of Imphal West in the sub-junior boys 35 kg final before Thounaojam Anjali defeated Imphal West's Kiran Chingakham in the sub-junior girls 43 kg final.
Ningthoujam Akaba then got the better of Irom Kangleiwang of Bishnupur for the sub-junior boys 43 kg title; Khulakpham Samim Banu beat Soibam Binita Chanu of Bishnupur for the elite women 57 kg category title; Lairenlakpam Ambedkar beat Nongdrenkhomba Mandengbam of Imphal West for the sub-junior boys 37 (2009) kg title; Laishram Jayaluxmi beat Bhumika Laishram of Imphal West for the sub-junior girls 40 kg title and Sneha Thangjam beat Taorem Rina of Imphal West for the 46 kg sub-junior girls title.
The day also saw Kakching's Th Sagar beat Oinam Maikel for the elite men's 80 kg title before S Sunil of MPSC beat Bishnupur's Dineshwor Saikhom in the elite men's 86 kg final.
Imphal West's Thongam Nilbir Singh, on the other hand, clinched the sub-junior boys 49 kg title (2007-08) beating Thoumoijam Paikhomba of Bishnupur in the final before his compatriot Khundongbam Biken Singh downed Bishnupur's Soibam Yohenba in the junior boys 63 kg final, Thongam Neo beat Ngangom Sunil of Bishnupur 4-1 for the elite men's 75 kg crown and Thoudam Merina beat Bishnupur's Alena for the sub-junior girls 31 kg title.
Thoubal's Babyrojisana in the meantime won the elite women's 54 kg title beating Tongbram Premi of Bishnupur in the final today.
Churachandpur's Rengneivar Serto Kom, meanwhile, fetched the sub-junior boys 64 kg title beating Sapam Anganba of Imphal East.
