Change Of Command At Red Shield Divn

Imphal, December 14 2014:
The command of Red Shield Division, the premier Army formation in Manipur, changed hands in a solemn ceremony at Leimakhong on December 13 .
Major General PM Bali, Vishisht Seva Medal, handed over the reins of the Red Shield Division to Major General P Nagesh Rao, Sena Medal after a successful and memorable tenure.
Major General PM Bali of the Punjab Regiment assumed command of Red Shield Division in Nov 2013. During his command, the Division's main thrust was to combat the menace of militancy in the State and to assist State machinery in maintaining peace and stability.
He was also instrumental in successful implementation of various Military Civic Action Programmes under Operation Sadbhavana to ensure facilities and amenities are provided to the locals in need as also strengthen the bond between the Army and the people of Manipur.
The General on his way out, wished the people of the State peace and prosperity in the days to come.
Major General PN Rao, Sena Medal is a decorated officer of the Parachute Regiment with varied experience both in India and abroad.
An alumnus of National Defence Academy, the General Officer is a decorated soldier with very high professional credentials.
The General has immense experience in handling counter insurgency operations both at staff and at grass root level.
The General Officer represented the Army as Chief Advisor, Indian Military Advisory Team in Africa.
Major General PN Rao while extending his good wishes to the people of Manipur assured the people of the continued commitment of the Red Shield Division towards maintenance of peace and harmony in the State.
