Imphal, December 14 2014:
In a bizarre incident that could have rarely happened elsewhere, the Imphal post office delivered steel items in place of medicines.
This was stated by the proprietor of Leibak Mapu Agency (Medical Stockist), RIMS Road Nagamapal, during a press conference held at Manipur Press Club today.
The proprietor of the agency said he ordered East African (India) Overseas Company, Dehradun for sending medical items worth Rs 1,10,000/-.Consequently the company sent an sms to the proprietor of the agency on December 4 last, saying that the items were already dispatched.
The Imphal Post Office delivered the goods on December 11, but only steel utensils including plate, glass and spoons were found while opening the package.
Feeling shocked, the proprietor of the agency enquired the company as to what they had actually sent.
The company, however, confirmed that it had sent only the medical items as ordered.
When the agency put up a complaint to the post office, they had casually said that it happens sometimes, and they will not be responsible for it.
Aggrieved at the whole development, the agency appealed to the authorities concerned to look into the matter seriously so that such incidents do not recur in future.
