Bali passes baton of Red Shield Division to Rao

The command of Red Shield Division changed hands in a solemn but impressive ceremony at Leimakhong today.
Major General PM Bali handed over the reins of the Red Shield Division to Major General P Nagesh Rao after a successful and memorable tenure, said a statement issued by PIB (Defence Wing) today.
Major General PM Bali of the Punjab Regiment assumed command of Red Shield Division in November, 2013.During his command, the Division's main thrust was to combat militancy in the State and to assist State machinery in maintaining peace and stability.
He was also instrumental in the successful implementation of various Military Civic Action Programmes under Operation Sadbhavana to ensure proper provision of facilities and amenities to the locals in need.

Major General PM Bali on his way out, wished the people of the State peace and prosperity in the days to come.
Major General PN Rao is a respected officer of the Parachute Regiment with varied experience both in India and abroad, added the statement.
An alumnus of National Defence Academy, he is an ornamented soldier with high professional credentials.
He represented the Army as Chief Advisor, Indian Military Advisory Team in Africa.
Extending his good wishes to the people of Manipur, the new GOC assured the people of the continued commitment of the Red Shield Division towards maintenance of peace and harmony in the State.
