Dengue positive cases reach 106 in Moreh

Moreh, November 29 2021:
Daughter of the labourer from Tera bazar, Imphal currently staying at Moreh Ward No 8 who tested positive of Dengue Sunday, has also been tested positive and both the father and the daughter are undergoing treatment at Moreh sub-district hospital.
The total number of Dengue positive cases in the border town reached 106 with six new cases detected Monday.
Of the fresh cases, one each was reported from Nepali Basti, Prem Nagar Leikai, Ngamkhai Veng and Moreh Bazar, and two cases from Moreh Ward No 1 Molhoi Veng.
The ever increasing Dengue positive cases is creating panic among people and some concerned citizens living in the border town have appealed to the government to take up stringent measures at the earliest to prevent fatality and contain the virus effectively.
Meanwhile, officials and staff of state Malaria department and district Malaria department conducted fogging, Larvicide spraying and house-to-house Aedes survey from 6am Monday.
Despite continuous fogging in Moreh using Kingfog chemical, Dengue positive cases in the border town increase unabated and this has created apprehension among people as to whether Kingfog chemical is not strong enough to eliminate the Dengue virus.
Malathion was used during fatal Dengue outbreak in the border town in 2007 and this chemical seems to be better than the currently utilised chemical.
State Malaria Officer (SMO) of head office imphal Dr Rahman Chisti and District Malaria Officer (DMO), Tengnoupal Dr Manibushan Yengkhom are currently stationed in Moreh and they are being assisted by Assistant Malaria Officer (AMO), Tengnoupal Kamei Khamchungpu Rongmei in entire exercise to prevent spread of the virus.
