WAD to review 16 cases of rape, murder

Women Action for Development (WAD) is set to review 16 cases of rape and murder during the upcoming International Fortnight Observation being held in the state from November 25 to December 12 .
Talking to the media at Manipur Press Club today, WAD secretary Sobita Mangsatabam said several social organisations under the auspices of WAD will make a review of the 16 cases of rape and murder during the observation.
She said this year's theme of the observation will be "Way Towards Speedy Justice" .
"We'll visit homes of 17 victims of rape and murder, all courts, police stations concerned and the Home Department to go over all the cases for a survey during the observation," Sobita said.
A state level painting competition for students in eight, nine and ten standards will be held to mark the occasion, she said, adding several programmes including workshop on violence against women and children will also be included in the observation.
