Intoxicants, tobacco products seized at Sangai Fest

Imphal, November 25 2014:
In spite of the ban on sale of intoxicants and tobacco products inside the venue of the ongoing 'Sangai Festival' at Hapta Kangjeibung, a number of food stall have been found selling the banned items stealthily.
During a raid conducted at certain food stalls inside the venue of the ongoing 'Sangai Festival' today, a police team led by Imphal East Police Commando DSP Roni Mayengbam and 2nd OC Vaiphei seized large quantity of banned tobacco products including Jarda, Kheini, Talab and liquor.

Police burnt down the seized products at the bank of Imphal river at New Chekon in Imphal.
According to police, the stalls at Sangai Festival had already been warned not to sell intoxicating items inside the festival venue.
Two persons were already arrested for bringing in liquor at the Festival site and handed over to Porompat police station with FIRs lodged against them.
