Gaidon Kamei becomes UNC new President

Gaidon Kamei has been elected as the 11th president of the United Naga Council (UNC) today for the tenure of 2014-2018.The election was held today at Senapati district headquarters.
Beaming Gaidon Kamei who was the general secretary of the UNC in the last term succeeded L Adani.
Pronouncing his priority after the declaration of his name as the new president by the UNC's election commission, Gaidon Kamei said to help push for the early settlement of the Naga political issue will be his top agenda.
The UNC president-elect then expressed his gratitude to all those people, unions, frontal organizations and leaders who have given him the opportunity to lead the UNC.
Gaidon Kamei had served as president of AZSU (AMN) for three terms, the longest ever.
Gaidon Kamei then became the general secretary of All Tribal Students Union, Manipur and also served as its vice president for four times.
In 1999, Gaidon Kamei contested the Lok Sabha election in the Outer Manipur Parliamentary constituency from the Federal Party of Manipur.
He then became the general secretary of Peoples Democratic Alliance and its spokesman simultaneously before he joined the UNC four years ago.
