Congress takes poll violence cases to CEO

AICC senior observer (Manipur election) Jairam Ramesh and AICC Manipur in-charge Bhakta Charan Das met Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Manipur over 14 election related violent incidents in six assembly constituencies and submitted a memorandum on Wednesday.
In the memorandum, the Congress party urged the CEO to declare Heirok, Mayang Imphal and Ukhrul assembly constituencies as hyper sensitive.
Congress also urged the CEO to take up appropriate actions against those who created disturbances during the flag hoisting ceremony of INC candidates in Heingang, Kangpokpi and Khundrakpam constituencies and keep themunder judicial custody until the election is over.
They also urged to replace the state police with central forces and CRPF.
MPCC working president MLA K Meghachandra, MLA P Saratchandra and MPCC office bearers accompanied the two AICC leaders in the meeting with CEO Manipur.
Interacting with media after the meeting, Jairam Ramesh said that BJP is using violent means in the election as they have lost their confidence of winning.
Unfortunately, the state's administration is doing nothing to make the election free and fair.
INC is submitting the memorandum to make the election a peaceful one.
Bhakta Charan Das and MLA K Meghachandra also demanded the administration to take up immediate necessary steps to prevent violent incidents, arrest those responsible for such activities in order to make the election free and fair.
