Ukhrul, June 05 2021:
As the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic continues to rage across the state, Tangkhul Coordination Forum on Covid-19 (TCFC) has called the community members to mark June 6 as a prayer day, to seek the Almighty's grace and protection from the infection.
Announcing this in a message on Saturday, TCFC representative Rev Remember Rimai said that the call is for each and every member of Tangkhul community to submit themselves to God, by abstaining from food and seek His protection in this troubled time of Covid-19 .
He said that the decision to observe June 6 (Sunday) as a prayer day was taken by the forum in view of the worsening pandemic situation in the state.
However, as Church services have remained shut to avoid congregations and gatherings, all members will be observing it in their respective homes or places across the state, he said.
"Fast and pray from wherever you are; in towns, cities or villages.
This is a time to do this because God can keep safe those who seek Him faithfully," he said, adding that this is God's assurance in times of dangers.
"If My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land".
"This God's promise for all of us in times of troubles like the ongoing pandemic crisis," Rev Rimai said quoting a scripture from the Bible.
Expressing concern over the loss of many precious lives and the alarming positivity rate in the second wave of the pandemic, he said that only the Almighty can change the situation.
At the same time, he sought collective efforts in combating the disease, and appealed to the public to obey and follow the safety rules laid down by the authorities and to stay home as far as possible.
"If we all have the same understanding and extend cooperation to the authorities, then fight the war will be much easier for us all to win," he added.
