Assam Rifles organises tree plantation drives

Somsai Battalion under the aegis of IGAR (South) organised a tree plantation drive at Awangkasom village, Ukhrul on June 3 aim at promoting the 'Go Green Initiative'.
The tree plantation drive was conducted on the occasion of World Environment Day with an aim to control the global warming, make environment pollution free and spread awareness on the importance of clean environment, said a statement issued by PRO Assam Rifles.
As part of initiative, saplings were planted by the troops of Assam Rifles.
During the event, the troops were educated about the importance of trees in maintaining the ecological equilibrium.
Noney Battalion Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters 21 Sector Assam Rifles and Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) also organised a tree plantation drive as a part of World Environment Day today.
The tree plantation drive was carried out to promote, preserve and maintain the ecological balance and biodiversity of the environment and foster culture of responsibility towards nature among the troops of Assam Rifles, said another statement issued by PRO Assam Rifles.
A total of 1015 sapling of various varieties were planted at Noney, Tupul, Kotlen, Lamdangmai, Haochong, Awangkhul and Khongsang area.
The issues like illegal excavation and deforestation were also discussed with the aim to benefit the humans and nature, added the statement.
Khoupum Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters 21 Sector Assam Rifles and Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) organised awareness programme on World Environment Day with the theme 'Reimagine, Recreate, Restore' at Manipur and Tripura today.
During the programme troops and families were briefed about health and environment benefits from green cover and plantation of fruit tree sapling was also carried out.
The events were organised in strict adherance to all the COVID-19 SOP as mandated by relevant Government authority.
