Harimati Centre celebrates foundation day

Harimati Dance and Music Centre celebrated its 49th foundation day at the centre's premises located at Kongpal Porompat on Friday with Kshetrigao MLA Nahakpam Indrajit as chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Indrajit hailed the role played by the institute in promoting Manipuri dance and music.
While calling upon the people of the state to promote indigenous art, culture and tradition, he said that process in underway for setting up a cultural university at Wakha in Kshetrigao assembly constituency.
Secretary of the institute, N Harimati said that it has produced many artistes of different art forms in its 49 years of existence and many of them have become lecturers in different institutions.
A Diva Raas performance was presented on the first day of the celebration, which will continue for three days.
The second day will have artistes' prayer day observance along With interaction with award winning artistes and presentation of Pung Cholom, Maibi dance classical duet and Kabui dance among others.
The last day will feature eyents like Puya Wari Leeba by Namoi Tomba, Khongjom Parva by Khumanthem Sundari, Khunung Ishei by Nahakpam Dipu, classical solo dance by Pechimayum Reena, Chali Pareng per formed by the Centre's students, and Manipuri dance drama 'Kangsha Vadh' .
