NCPCR organises district level awareness workshop at Oinam

National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) in collaboration with Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR) on Friday organised a district level awareness workshop on "Joint action plan on drugs & substance abuse among children and illicit trafficking" at Thambal Marik College, Oinam.
The programme facilitated by Seva Bharati, Manipur was attended by MCPCR Chairperson, Ph Manibabu Sharma; DC Bishnupur, Ranjan Yumnam, IAS; DSP Bishnupur, L Shantikumar and Thambal Marik College, Principal Dr Th Binarani Devi as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Ranjan Yumnam expressed his anguish over the increasing number of drug and substance abuse in youths of the State.

He mentioned that it is essential to take up various measures to monitor the increasing cases of drug abuse at the earliest to protect the younger generations.
The DC also stressed on the role of teachers and parents in guiding the youth towards a healthy lifestyle, away from substance abuse.
Ranjan Yumnam further assured that the District Administration would convene district level review meetings with various stakeholders to chalk out actionable plans and enforce strict laws/acts against drugs in the district.
Stressing on the need to monitor the shops in the periphery of schools and colleges, Ph Manibabu Sharma stated that it is high time for everyone to understand the damage caused by drugs in the society.
Later, as part of the SVEEP campaign, a national voter pledge was taken by all present.
