AIM eke out slender win over NISA in Manipur Sate League

AIM ground out a 1-0 win over NISA in Friday's action of the 14th Manipur State League at Turf Ground, Lamlong.
Barring the goal, the squads were evenly matched throughout the game that saw some squandered chances from either side.
After gruelling back-and-forth exchanges for the major part of the first half, AIM finally broke NISA's resistance in the 40th minute, setting up L Lamyanba who made not mistake in putting the ball in the back of the net.
AIM then withstood a stiff second- half challenge from their dogged opponents to earn all three points.
The victory sees AIM climb to the fifth spot of Group B table with nine points from six games, followed by YPHU (6 pts), MPSC (6 pts) and NACO 4 pts).
AFC top the Group B table with 12 points from five games while UKB, who also have played five matches, are two points adrift of the group leaders.
NISA, who are level on nine points with Muvanlai Athlet ics, occupy the third spot on goal difference.
Both teams have played six matches.
The State League's ensuing two matches will take place on December 27, with KIYC taking on SSU and DMRAO meeting GSC.
