Violence cannot win elections, says Romen

Intending candidate of National People's Party (NPP) in Singjamei assembly constituency O Romen has said that indulging in violence and threatening people cannot win elections.
Attending a one-day political conference held at Singjamei Waikhom Leikai on Friday, Romen said that candidates should show commitment, sincerity and humility in order to gain public trust and win their hearts.
The public will automatically turn down those candidates, who depend on violence to win elections.
On the other hand, the government is taking up various welfare measures for women and youth but people of Singjamei assembly constituency are deprived of these benefits despite having a ruling MLA.
In this modern society, one cannot mislead the public by improving some drains.
The society needs human resource development, without which the socio-economic condition of the state cannot improve, he said, while stressing the need to focus on holistic approach in taking up development initiatives.
He also expressed concern over the trend of opening multiple booth offices in different polling station areas while stating that these booth offices have become' a centre for enticing youth! with drugs and alcohol.
He called upon the people of the constituency to wisely exercise their voting rights and choose the right candidate who will bring true development.
