Imphal, December 24 2021:
Kangleipak Students Association (KSA) has urged the Vice Chancellor of Manipur Technical University (MTU) to resign on moral grounds.
KSA in a press release maintained that the present VC was appointed based on a loophole in the UGC regulation 2018 which allowed a person to become a Vice Chancellor who has a 10 years administrative experience.
The student body mentioned that the VC was an Associate Professor at Government Polytechnic and later served as the Deputy Director at Controller of Technical Education on deputation.
Stating that such a person is incapable to be the VC of MTU which is one of the premier universities of the State, KSA maintained that his incompetent leadership may pose major hindrances in the functioning of the varsity.
In view of the aforementioned scenario, KSA also sought the attention of the Chief Minister and Education Minister in the matter.
Further expressing concern over such regulations which allows a person with only 10 years administrative experience to become a VC, KSA said that it will write to UGC to amend the particular clause of UGC Regulation 2018.The student body also stated that it will look into the matter over the non uniformity in the recruitment process of Assistant Professors at MTU and Dhanamanjuri University since MTU allowed non locals who are not permanent residents of the State to apply for the post while DM University restricted non locals to apply for the same.
