Imphal, December 24 2021:
With the onset of Christmas, the proscribed Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) has extended greetings to people both in the hills and the valley of Manipur who have been living together since time immemorial and prayed for peace, harmony and understanding among different sections of people.
While Manipur is still unable to fully tackle COVID-19, a new variant of COVID-19 named Omicron is spreading throughout the globe with the same highly transmissible variant affecting some states of India, the RPF said and appealed to people to celebrate Christmas with strict adherence to SOPs so as to stay safe from the contagion.
In a message delivered to people on the occasion, RPF's minority affairs deputy secretary Y Shyam said that Lord Jesus came to Earth as a human being as per instruction of the almighty Lord to lead every human being to the right path.
The message left by Lord Jesus Christ is to bring peace on Earth and love among every human being and move to the path of progress ((John 13: 34) .
Lord Jesus Christ as representative of the society suffered on the cross to save people from their sins and he had shown the true path, love and forgiveness.
This has shown how much saviour Jesus Christ love the humans and maintaining harmony and collective survival were aspirations of Jesus Christ (Ephesians 4:32) .
While people across the globe have been calling for collective survival without any differentiation on the basis of religion and honouring one community by another, India continues to oppress people who follow non-Hindu religion despite claiming to be a secular nation.
Barely three weeks after the Narendra Modi-led BJP government took oath, Hindu extremist groups started targeting minority Christians, Shyam said in the message while citing report filed by Union of Catholic Asian News.
Christians constitute, only 2.3 percent of India's 1.3 billion population and majority Hindu extremist groups continue to oppress minority Christians and this showcased that India's secular constitution has been converted into Hindu oriented one.
What the pro-Hindu BJP government wants is to make India a land for Hindu and people who followed other religions should support One Hindu Nation agenda if they want to live in the country.
As per World Watch list, India is one of the leading nations in oppression of Christians.
In the year 2020 alone, at least 450 incidents of oppression of non-Hindu people occurred in India and at least 2,224 such incidents occurred between January, 2016 and September, 2020, Shyam pointed out, adding that oppression of Christians continues unabated.
However, no such incident ever happened in Manipur though the land is inhabited by different communities, the RPF leader noted and cautioned people of different faiths living in Manipur to remain alert from India's divisive policies and attempts to uproot indigenous people.
