CM commits to uplift of marginalised people

Chief minister N Biren has said that financial inclusion is a national priority to enable inclusive growth and his government has been taking up necessary measures to achieve the goal.
Speaking at the inauguration of Bank of Baroda Somdal branch in Ukhrul district via video conferencing from his Secretariat office on Monday, the CM affirmed that the state government is committed to providing financial inclusiveness, especially to support the marginalised and socio-economically neglected classes.
The government has implemented various welfare schemes to support and help the needy people and entrepreneurs of the state, he added.
Highlighting that Manipur is marching ahead in all aspects of life such as development etc., Biren mentioned that the India Today Group has ranked Manipur as the Most Improved State in Agriculture and Best Governance Award among smaller states of the country recently.
"Government is giving special attention to bring development in hill districts of the state and there is positive change in these districts," he added.
CM also informed that the 50 bedded District Hospital, Ukhrul has been upgraded to 100 bedded facility and will soon be inaugurated by union home minister Amit Shah during his visit to the state in December.
He also appealed to the people to take maximum precautions and preventive measures to protect from the new COVID-19 variant.
He said that the government is taking various measures to tackle the pandemic and COVID testing facilities .are functioning at various points such as Mao gate, Jiribam and Imphal International airports among others.
During the event, Ukhrul DC Krishna Kumar unveiled the inauguration plaque and cut the ribbon at Somdal on behalf of the chief minister.
Deputy general manager of Bank of Baroda, North East Region Sonam Bhutia, Ukhrul SP Saujanya Singh and other high ranking officials were also present at the occasion.
