Two shops damaged in fire

Thoubal, May 07 2022:
At least two shops including a tailoring shop and a grocery shop located at Thoubal Turel Mapan in Khekman Wangmataba Makha Leikai under Thoubal police station were damaged in a fire which broke out around 2.30 am on Saturday.
According to reports culled from the spot, the fire was suspected to be caused by an electric short circuit.
The fire was detected by some young boys who were out to play badminton at around 4 am.
The fire had already burnt down major portions of two shops at the time of the detection.
The two ill-fated shops belong to one Ahanthem Sunder s/o Ibohal of Khekman Wangmataba Makha Leikai.
He had closed down the shops for the day and returned home when the incident occurred.
The fire destroyed most of the goods stored in the grocery shop, while 4 tailoring machines, several tailored and un-tailored clothes, and several expensive Rani Phi stored in the tailoring shop were burnt down, resulting in losses estimated to be around Rs 10 lakh.
Meanwhile, Khekman GP Ward member Sanasam Tomba has drawn attention of the state government for extending all necessary aid to Ahanthem Sunder.
