Minister Dingo calls for transparency, accountability

Social welfare minister H Dingo has called upon the officials of the department to maintain transparency and accountability while delivering benefits of different schemes to the targeted people in order to make social welfare the best performing department of the state.
Speaking as the chief guest at the ICDS Annual Meet 2022 organised by Apunba Manipurgi ICDS Supervisor Association (AMISA) held at Tribal Research Institute (TRI) here on Saturday, minister Dingo expressed happiness on being part of the department, which has several dynamic officers.
He also expressed confident that he will be able to take up welfare programmes for the people of the state with the cooperation of the department's officials.
In the last term, he had remained as chairman of Manipur Building and Other Construction Workers' Welfare Board under labour department and he is happy to become the minister of the same department too.
The board was less known to the public and yet it was full of issues.
During his tenure, he put efforts for resolving most of the issues and as a result, the board is performing effectively today.
Likewise, he would like to make social welfare department a leading department in the state, Dingo said, while seeking cooperation from the officials in this regard.
He also expressed concern over the degrading behaviour and morality of the youth of contemporary society and called for making Anganwadi Centres as a platform to guide the younger generation towards decency and socially acceptable individuals right from their early childhood.
The department has schemes for every stage of human being and he would like to see it as the best performing department, the minister added.
Social Welfare secretary Ningthoujam Geoffrey presided over the function which was also attended by director Ngangom Uttam, CFO Ziour Rahaman and joint director Bantee Singh Konthoujam as guests of honour.
