Rationalisation of posting within one week: Education minister

Education minister Th Basantakumar declared the results of the compart mental examination of High School Leaving Certificate Examination 2022 conducted by the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BSEM) at the conference hall of the board's office located at Babupara, here, on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister confided that rationalisation of posting for teachers will be completed within a week.
For this, the department has created a database of teachers, made clusters of teachers and utilised them accordingly.
There are com plaints of inadequate number of teachers in different schools, especially in the hill districts.
The main reason behind the issue is vacancy of posts of teachers in the department due to retirement of teachers at the rate of over 600 every year in the last decade.
Right now, there are over 7000 vacant posts in the department.
In order to resolve the issue, at least to an extent, the department is in the process of declaring results of recruitments conducted earlier, he said.
Regarding the compart-mental examination of HSLCE, Basantakumar said that the general rule of the board for compartmental examination is failure in one subject.
However, the government took a decision to allow failure in two subjects for this year only keeping in mind the impact on conventional education system due to Covid-19 pandemic and in order to reduce number of dropouts.
He congratulated the students who cleared the examinations and wished them good luck in their further study.
Out of 6406 students enrolled for the exam, 6371 candidates appeared in the compartmental examination.
With 6269 students clearing the examination, the pass percentage is 98.40 .
Pass percentage for regular male candidates is 98.35 and 98.43 for female regular candidates.
Male external candidates recorded pass percentage of 97.50 while female external candidates recorded 100 pass percentage.
Of the total successful candidates, 18.46 per cent came in 1st division, 74.62 per cent in 2nd division and 5.32 per cent in 3rd division.
One student was expelled from the examination while six were barred from appearing HSLC examination till 2025 .
Those who could not clear the examination can appear in next year's examination as external candidates.
Schools can collect certificates and marksheets from the board starting from October 10 onward.
