Pharmacovigilance Week observed at SAHS

As part of National Pharmacovigilance Week, Shija Academy of Health Sciences (SAHS), Langol organised a one-day interaction programme on "Awareness on Pharmacovigilance and Adverse Drug Reaction Reporting" at its Lecture Hall on September 21 .
Informing that key goal of the event was to raise awareness and promote patient safety, SAHS Business Development manager L Premjit Singh said in a release that an introduction to adverse drug reactions (ADR) was delivered by SAHS Department of Pharmacology HOD Prof Subhalakshmi Akham while senior resident Dr Neerajkumar Sharma Manohar explained the importance of adverse drug reaction reporting to improve patient safety to the public and healthcare professionals.
Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Pharmacovigilance associate Dr Nameirakpam Surjit Singh demonstrated to the participants how to report ADRs and fill the form.
Following his closing remarks and discussion with the participants, SAHS Department of Pharmacology Prof Oinam Joychandra Singh encouraged the audience to report known or unknown, serious or non-serious reactions due to medicines, vaccines, and others.
A total of 150 participants, including faculty members from SAHS, nurses, paramedics, resident doctors, and pharmacists from Shija Hospitals, attended the event.
The release further said that the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission under the Ministry of Health has agreed to enrol and recognise Shija Academy of Health Sciences, Langol as an Adverse Drug Reaction Monitoring Centre (AMC) under the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India.
