Folk Music enlisted for Sangai Festival

Chief Minister N Biren attended the 1st edition of Cultures Connect 2022 held in connection with the World Tourism Day 2022 at Thawai Hou Arts & Event Space, Heibongpokpi, Imphal West on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Biren announced that Folk Music Festival would also be included as part of the upcoming Sangai Festival this year.
He praised Mangka Mayanglambam for her efforts to preserve and promote the state's cultures and traditions through her folk music and various performances.
He also appreciated the folk singer for teaching folk music to young artistes of the state.
This has helped in reviving the age-old traditions once followed by the forefathers, he added.
Continuing that the state has changed a lot with considerable improvement in law and order, the CM maintained that the state is now safe for visitors from outside and added that many tourists too have the desire to visit.
CAF&PD minister L Susindro, British Council, East and Northeast India director Debanjan Chakrabarti, director (tourism) W Ibohal and eminent folk artistes attended the programme among others.
Performances of Mangka Mayanglambam, Mickma Tshering Lepcha and Ongyal Tshering Lepcha were the main highlights for the programme.
