Addressing a press meet at the temporary market here on Tuesday, Tama said that they had made several requests to the authority concerned including the chief secretary, the chief minister, the MAHUD minister among others since March 5 this year for inaugurating the market shed meant for street vendors.
However, the government has been delaying the inauguration without paying any heed to their demand.
The government even used large number of police force when they tried to move into the shed and placed restrictions by promulgating CrPC 144, she said.
Considering the situation, the association, in its emergency executive meeting held on Tuesday resolved to set October 3 as the deadline to the government for inaugurating the market shed, failing which the women vendors will carry out trade activities from the next day onwards, she said.
Informing that the association has records of all women vendors who took turn to carry out their trades in the erstwhile temporary shed, she cautioned the government against bringing in new faces without allotting seats to the former vendors first.
