RIMS projects including Covid Care Centre inaugurated

Altogether five projects including Covid Care Centre of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal have been inaugurated by director professor A Santa on Saturday.
The five projects which director Santa handed over to the people are 50-bedded Covid Care-Infectious Disease Centre, Covid Care Centre private ward, PSA Oxygen Generation and Refilling Station, Hospital Record department and Store House for condemned materials.
The inauguration function of the projects was also attended by RIMS medical superintendent Nepram Sanjib and other officials.
In his speech, professor A Santa said that people of the state are well aware of the difficulties faced during the first wave of COVID-19 pandemic.
Jhere was a time when a ward of the hospital could do nothing when one COVID-19 patient was admitted and other patients were unable to get medical treatment.
Government attempted to declare either RIMS or JNIMS as Covid hospital during the height of the pandemic but it was unsuccessful, he said and recalled the difficulties faced during the pandemic.
While expressing hope that inauguration of new projects would help people in a big way, professor A Santa said that construction of some other infrastructures at RIMS have been completed and these projects would be inaugurated soon.
Among the yet to be inaugurated infrastructures include staff quarter of 200 capacity.
According to medical superintendent Sanjib, the projects inaugurated on Saturday were constructed under the keen initiative of director A Santa and these projects will benefit the people.
He further said that the record department is important and RIMS will have its own oxygen generation unit and will not buy oxygen from outside.
RIMS is buying carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide from outside but this problem could be solved soon, he said, adding that opening of Covid Care Centre is a landmark achievement for the hospital during professor A Santa's tenure.
