Civil services coaching centre opened for SC students

A coaching centre has been set up at Manipur University to provide free coaching to the aspirants of civil services examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) .
The coaching centre has been christened Dr Ambedkar Centre of Excellence , Manipur University.
The opening function held at Old Social Science Block of MU was attended by Social Welfare Minister Heikham Dingo, Vice Chancellors of Manipur Univer- sity, Prof L Lokendra and Dhanamanjuri University Prof N Rajmuhon as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Programme coordinator of the newly established centre Dr Salam Shanti- kumar said that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to open Dr Ambed-kar Centre of Excellence at Manipur University was signed on April 22, 2022 at Banaras Hindu University under the initiative of Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment.
Saying that the academic session which started today has 100 seats and will continue till October 30, 2023, Shantikumar continued that the centre will train the aspirants to perform well in preliminary, mains and personality tests.
For now, the centre offers only Sociology, Public Administration, Psychology, Geography and History, he said and added that only aspirants (21-37 years) belonging to SC can attend the course.
"There will be 33 per cent seat reservation for women," he added.
