Red Dawn book fair begins, book released

A 10-day 'Red Dawn' book fair cum literary fest which is being organised by The Readers Collective in commemoration of Hijam Irabot began from Friday at DM College of Commerce ground, here.
On the second day of the fair on Saturday, an anthology of short stories titled 'Chasmic Dreams' published by Manipur Literary Club was released as part of the literary event.
The book release function was attended by authors Birendrajit Naorem, Natali Ningthoukhongjam, Dr Susma Sharma Gurumayum, Linthoi Chanu, Pa Thawan and Rk Smejita among others.
Prior to the book releasing function, a talk by Akho-ka artistic director Victor Thoudam on the topic 'Theatre of the oppressed' was conducted.
Different genres of books are being sold at discounted rate in the fair apart from some stalls put up for dis play/sale of handicraft.
Environmentalist Jiten Yumnam will talk on 'Oil Palm Cultivation' and Prof Dr Ch Ibohal on 'Books, book fair and library' on the third day of the literary event, on Sunday.
