Imphal, October 01 2022:
The United Committee Manipur (UCM) president Joychandra Kon-thoujam has laid emphasis on the need to review the current system of rostering and scheduling of doctors at Government hospitals so as to provide better healthcare facilities to the people.
The UCM president claimed that there are many doctors who are employed both at Government and private hospitals and such of working style leads to shortage of manpower at Govern- ment hospitals.
Today, UCM along with Directorate of Health Services and National Health Mission carried out a camp to check the ever increasing cases of Dengue at Moreh town.
Speaking to media persons by the sideline of the programme, Joychandra continued that the UCM team found only four doctors running Moreh Hospital although 15 doctors are posted there.

Saying that UCM conducted the camp with only one doctor due to non-availability of medical profe- ssionals at Moreh Hospital, he urged the State Government to look into the matter at the earliest.
"This culture of doctors not working at their place of posting needs to be checked," Joychandra said and urged the State Government to properly manage the system of rostering and scheduling of doctors.
Saying that the endeavour of the Government to check the rise of Dengue at the border town will not yield any result without the involvement of the people, Joychandra urged the Government to invest more funds in the Malaria Department to control the vector borne disease.
Reportedly, UCM along with District Malaria offices of Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal and Teng-noupal carried out a fogging drive at Heinoumakhong Leikai, Moreh and other localities of the border town.
The team also distributed chemically treated mosquito nets to Dengue patients admitted at Moreh Hospital.
District Malaria Officer of Tengnoupal Dr Manibushan said that altogether 259 cases of Dengue have been reported from Moreh town so far of which eight are active.
