Coaching centre for civil service aspirants inaugurated

Social Welfare minister Heikham Dingo inaugurated Dr Ambedkar Centre of Excellence, which is a free coaching centre for civil services examination conducted by UPSC for Scheduled Caste candidates, at Manipur University (MU) on Saturday.
The inaugural function was attended by MU vice chancellor professor N Lokendra Singh as president and Dhanamanjuri University vice chancellor prof N Rajmuhon as guest of honour.
In his address, minister Heikham Dingo said that the newly inaugurated coaching centre is among 31 selected by the central government.

SC students will provide huge benefits to them, he said, adding that it will not only benefit the students but will also help in bringing a change in the society.
Dr Ambedkar Centre of Excellence programme co-ordinator Dr Salam Shantikumar said that the centre will provide yearlong free coaching to 100 aspirants.
The session which started from Saturday will continue till September 30 of next year and 33 per cent of the intake capacity will be reserved for women, however, if eligible female candidates do not apply then the vacant seats will be filled up by transgender or male students.
While informing that the centre will offer five subjects for main examination namely sociology, public administration, psychology, geography and history, he revealed that they are planning to open similar centres for OBC as well.
