H Pabankumar wins Best Biography Award

The National Film awards ceremony was held at New Delhi on Friday with President Droupadi Murmu and other dignitaries handing over the awards to different film personalities and filmmakers, including the Best Biography Award to Manipuri filmmaker Haobam Pabankumar for his work, "Pabung Syam".
"Pabung Syam" is based on the life and works of ace Manipuri filmmaker Aribam Syam Sharma, and is produced by Films Division, Mumbai of Ministry of I&B and directed by Pabankumar.
The cameraman for the document was late Irom Maipak; sound by Sukanta Majumdar; edited by Sangkha; location sound by Laishram Devkumar; with Salam Rajesh as the subject expert.
The documentary was screened at the Indian Panorama-52nd International Film Festival of India.
It also bagged the 'Best Biographical Film' at the 14th Manipur State Film Award as well as the Best Director Award.
The list of recipients for the 68th National Film Award-2022 was announced in July this year.
Pabankumar is an alumnus of SRFTI, Kolkata, having completed his graduation on direction and scriptwriting.
He then went on to produce many non-fiction and fiction films.
His first documentary film AFSPA-1958' won the Swarna Kamal award at the 56th National Film Award-2009.After working in non-fiction films for 10 years, his feature film Loktak Lairembi' (Lady of the Lake) premiered at the 67th Berlin Film Festival-2017 .
His other film 'Nine Hills One Valley' is his second narrative film.
So far, Pabankumar has won 5 national film awards and selected for Indian Panorama 7 times.
He has also won many international awards.
